Are People Basically Good?
According to our current Culture the answer is a resounding YES!
What does the Bible say about this subject, can we know for certain what God thinks about this question? And it’s another resounding YES! Turn with me to Romans chapter 3:10-18, as it is written, “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God…no one does good, not even one…”
Why? Turn to Romans 5:12, “Therefore, just as sin came into the world though one man (Adam) and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned…” We are not sinners because we sin, we sin because we are sinners by nature.
And then we do something extremely sinful…
To find out the answer we must turn to Romans 1:18-32, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
What truth do we suppress?
Romans 1:19-20, “For what can be known about God is plain…” For His invisible attributes, namely His divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world…so they are without excuse.” This act of suppressing the truth about God’s existence is so sinful that God’s wrath is now evident. Three times in Romans 1: 24, 26, 28, God gives them up, who do not see fit to acknowledge God, He gives them up to greater and greater sin until they have a debased mind. A debased mind is one that cannot discern between good and evil. A person in this condition is morally depraved, worthless for anything good, and despicable. They call evil good and good they call evil.
We see this being fulfilled today with teenage girls getting a double-mastectomy while taking testosterone and calling themselves boys. Or Transexuals wanting to teach preschoolers about their lifestyle. Unthinkable 30 years ago. In 1975 homosexuality was considered a mental disease, and now, a person who believes the Bible and calls the homosexual lifestyle sinful is a hatemonger. As Christians we do not call homosexuality the only sin, but we condemn all sins the Bible teaches. Drunkenness, adultery, murder, lying, gossip and stealing, etc. The next move in society, as I see it, will be the legalization of pedophiles.
In time passed most people went to church or respected those who did, but today, millions of people deny the existence of God or worship a false god, one that they can control. Therefore, God has given them up to live without Him and we are seeing this played out today in 2024.
Beloved, if you are a believer in Christ, God has rescued you from His wrath which will soon come upon on earth. I thank God, He has saved us, let us be forever grateful.
